Mike Huckabee continues to defend his support for laws that end with, "and then you can kill the baby", destroying any trust that could be placed in him for the otherwise moral rhetoric that he offers on behalf of the unborn.
  • Huckabee Contradicts Himself on Murder (of all things) by Supporting Both the Right To Life and Abortion Regulations. Any law that ends with, "and then you can kill the baby" is an evil law. All abortion regulations end with, "and then you can kill the baby." Because Mike Huckabee supports laws that regulate child killing, he is not a Tier 1 leader and instead is an equivocating immoral Tier 2, Personhood Whenever, politician. If he obtains the wisdom and finds the courage to openly reject efforts to regulate how, when, and where someone can "legally" kill a child, then Prolife Profiles will celebrate listing him among the Tier 1, Personhood Now, leaders. 1

  • South Carolina's "Fetal Pain" Bill Supported by Huckabee Is Explicity Wicked: Huckabee's support for abortion regulations is similar to that of the founder of the National Abortion Federation's "pro-choice" activist Frances Kissling. For example, the 2016 S.C. Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act that Huckabee supports 2  states, "no abortion must be performed or induced or be attempted to be performed or induced unless the physician [i.e., the abortionist] performing or inducing it has first made a determination of the probable post-fertilization age of the unborn child" (S.C. H. 3114). Laws that regulate the intentional murder of the innocent backfire and are evil on their face, regardless of the motivations of those who support it. A German who proposed a law that regulated which innocent Jews could be killed would have been part of the problem. By his support for violent and wicked laws that permit the dismemberment of innocent children, regardless of his own motivations, Mike Huckabee disqualifies himself from any leadership position, and unless he repents, should not be supported but admonished.

  • Huckabee Still Brags About the "and then you can kill the baby" Bills He Signed Into Law: From his own campaign website: "As Governor... I... established waiting periods [and after waiting, then you can kill the baby; I] created parental notification requirements [and after notification, then you can kill the baby]". For those who think this behavior is acceptable for a leader, please consider that after pro-lifers successfully elected thousands of "pro-life" politicians, our courts still overwhelming reject the right to life of the unborn child. In fact, any "conservative" judge that Huckabee asks to uphold any of his abortion regulations can uphold such a bill only if that judge will reject that the child has a right to life. As a result, even though Republicans had nominated a majority of its judges, we pro-lifers, by our own strategy, have destroyed the federal judiciary which is overwhelmingly pro-abortion.   • Contrary to His Own Regulating of the Killing of Children, Huckabee Claims to Support the Child's Personhood: During the Republican Presidential Candidates Debate on August 6, 2015, Mike Huckabee announced that as President he would invoke the 5th and 14th amendments of the U.S. Constitution to abolish abortion. Huckabee also said the Roe v. Wade decision was wrong to cite the right to privacy as a reason for abortion being permissible. “Privacy doesn’t allow you to take a life,” he said. 3

  • Signed the Personhood Pledge. Commenting on his signing of the pledge in 2011, Huckabee stated:  “Believing that every human life, unborn and born, has intrinsic worth and equal value is the underpinning of our nation’s moral core. As one who lived through the Jim Crow laws of the South and saw how people of color were treated as ‘less’ I am encouraged that the Personhood movement is reminding us that all people are deserving of the protections afforded us as human beings. We should never ask people to determine if one person is ‘more’ valuable than another because of wealth, appearance, IQ, ancestry, ethnic origin, or physical capacity. Attempts to dismiss the concept of Personhood will eventually be met with common sense and common decency. Until then, we must continue to speak out boldly for the rights of all to enjoy ‘life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.’” 4

  • Won't Rule Out Using Federal Troops to Stop Abortions. On July 30, 2015, at a campaign stop in Rockwell City, Iowa, a reporter asked him if he would stop abortion by using the FBI or federal forces. Huckabee replied, “We’ll see, if I get to be president.” 5

  • Signed Arkansas’ Fetal Protection Act which allowed someone who is convicted of attacking a pregnant woman and causing the death of her unborn child to be charged with murder. The 1999 law recognized an unborn child as a human being. 6

  • Endorsed the Proposed Colorado Human Life Amendment on February 25, 2008. "This proposed constitutional amendment will define a person as a human being from the moment life begins at conception," Huckabee said in a statement. "With this amendment, Colorado has an opportunity to send a clear message that every human life has value," Huckabee said. "Passing this amendment will mean the people of Colorado will protect the sanctity of life from conception until natural death occurs." 7

  • Led Arkansas to Human Life Amendment in State Constitution. “I would love to see us have in this country what I helped lead in our state in Arkansas, and that’s a human life amendment to our state constitution, Amendment 65, that says that we believe life begins at conception, and that we ought to do everything in the world possible to protect it until its natural conclusion. And that means that we truly value and respect, elevate and celebrate every life.” 8

  • Doesn’t Use the Phoney “State’s Rights Issue” to Avoid the Topic as many presidential candidates do. This excerpt from Huckabee’s book shows he is not one of them: “Roe v. Wade simply took the issue of protecting human life from the jurisdiction of individual state law and added a new level of protection in the name of privacy at the federal level. [If abortion were] a political issue, then it would be logical for the issue to be decided by the individual states--but it is a moral issue. The right to life is a fundamental right that does not--CANNOT--vary from state to state. The very idea of each and every state having a different standard of morality as it relates to the sanctity of life is ludicrous. In the 1860s, states in the South believed that each state should set its own terms for how to deal with the issue of slavery. Wise and principled leaders insisted that this could not be treated as a political issue but would have to be dealt with as a moral issue. It's my hope & prayer that we will also come to an inescapable conclusion that it is equally irrational to believe that human life can mean something different in each of the 50 states.” 9

  • Will Lead the Fight for a Constitutional Ban on Abortion. “I would support and be willing to lead a Human Life Amendment to the constitution. Our Founding Fathers said we’re all equal. At the heart of understanding that, if we are indeed equal, all of us have intrinsic worth, and no one has more than another. I believe the sanctity of a human life is rooted in who we are as a culture and as a civilization. And should we turn our back on this fundamental truth, we have turned our back on the very essence and foundation of who we are as a people.” 10

  • Declared Abortion to be Worse Than the Holocaust. During Huckabee’s address before a group of pastors on his 2014 “Reagan, Thatcher, Pope John Paul II tour” of Europe, Huckabee, a Southern Baptist preacher, blamed fellow pastors for not doing enough to stop abortion, saying they had “blood on our hands.” “We wonder with some sense of bewilderment, how is it possible that since 1973 alone over 55 million unborn children have died in what should have been the safest place that that baby ever experienced, the womb of its mother?” Huckabee asked. “Because our pulpits were silent and forgot and failed to teach that every human life has value and worth and there’s no such thing as a disposable, expendable human being, that all of us are created equal,” he continued. “Even our Constitution, our founders, acknowledge that, and our Bible affirms it. And our failure to speak it because it was a political issue will cause us one day to stand before a holy God with blood on our hands and explain why we did not cry out against that slaughter of 55 million.” Huckabee then suggested abortion was an even worse atrocity than the Holocaust: “If you felt something incredibly powerful at Auschwitz and Birkenau over the 11 million killed worldwide and the 1.5 million killed on those grounds, cannot we feel something extraordinary about 55 million murdered in our own country in the wombs of their mothers?” he said. 11
