Mormonism

The Latter-Day Saints

Tier 4 - Personhood Never

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a.k.a., Mormons, places the value of some preborn children below the value of others by supporting exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother.

  • The Mormon Church Openly and Explicitly Defends the Killing of Innocent Children: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints says it opposes abortion, but tragically the Mormon church officially defends the killing of the innocent child in four different circumstances as documented below. ProlifeProfiles offers a $100 reward to anyone who can document a significant error in this report of the moral compromise of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

  • Rape – The Mormon Church Permits the Killing of Children for the Crime of the Father: Whereas God says, "Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor shall the children be put to death for their fathers; a person shall be put to death for his own sin" (Deuteronomy 24:16; see more at AmericanRTL.org/Bible), the Mormon Church contradicts Scripture and claims that abortion is acceptable, "where the pregnancy was caused by rape..." 1  on their official Mormon.org website: Once a person sees that the Bible clearly teaches that it is wrong to kill a child for the crime of her father (Deut. 24:16; etc.), that frees the person to get beyond the cliché and look more closely at the actual result of abortion for incest. Because it is wrong to kill the child for the crime of the father, there are other terrible consequences, including that abortion for rape and incest emboldens those criminals and increases such crimes against women.

Incest – The Mormon Church Permits the Killing of a Criminal's Child: Abortion for incest is cruel as the Planned Parenthood abortionist covers up the crime of incest, and typically sends the victim back home to her rapist. Even worse, they often send her home with her rapist, the same criminal who brought her to the clinic to dispose of the "evidence" and help him get away with his crime. Abortion for incest actually emboldens a criminal to rape his young relative and then tempts him to repeat his crime, and is not compassionate because it kills a baby and increases the woman's suffering.

The Mormon church should realize that abortion for rape, whether by incest or not, does not help, but is cruel to women. And it harms them because it brings them to violate God's command against killing the innocent and even to kill their own child. And the very term "elective" abortion undermines the clarity of God's law. Abortion is always wrong because it's a baby, and it's never morally justified to intentionally kill an innocent baby.

  • Life – The Mormon Church Doesn't Distinguish Between Delivering and Killing the Baby: But what if a pregnancy threatens the life of the mother? The doctor's goal should be to save mom and the baby if possible. The goal should never be to kill the mother to save the baby, nor to kill the child to save the mother. In an ectopic pregnancy for example, we save mom and the baby tragically dies. But our goal should always be, if possible, to save the baby also. Society's attempt to justify killing unborn children leads to absurdities like the exception for the life of the mother even in the partial-birth abortion ban. In reality, if the mother's life is threatened by her pregnancy, her doctor would deliver the baby as soon as possible, and never stop midway to kill the baby. The PBA ban itself has no authority to save a single child because the abortionist can simply use a variation of PBA or some other late-term technique. However, the very idea of delaying the saving of a mom in order to stop midway to kill the baby is such an obvious cruelty and deception that it exposes the hard-heartedness of those who argue for such exceptions. Abortion is always wrong, without exception, and Mormon leaders should know that.

  • Handicapped Baby – The Mormon Church Doesn't Protect But Permits Killing a Handicapped Baby: One of the most egregious examples of moral failure of the LDS church is their claim that God would approve of the killing of a severely handicapped child. As documented from Scripture at American Right To Life's website, God Especially Loves Children! It is not immoral to let an irreversibly dying child die; it is abhorrent to kill him.

Summary: If you are a Mormon, please pray to God and ask Him, If my church permits me to compromise Your command, Do not kill the innocent, what else might they lead me astray on?
